Marble Cemetery

The New York Marble Cemetery is Manhattan's oldest public non-denominational cemetery, established in 1830 and designated a New York City Landmark and National Register of Historic Places site, featuring 156 underground marble vaults hidden behind distinctive 12-foot Tuckahoe marble walls accessible through a private alley. This intimate half-acre urban oasis offers a serene garden setting for private events including weddings, corporate functions, and photo shoots, while preserving the legacy of over 2,000 notable 19th-century New Yorkers including founders of major institutions and civic leaders.
